The hot summer season of high school baseball has come also to Miyagi.

This is elimination, only 1 school can go to national championship in Koshien stadium.
They have started to play on 14 July in 4 stadiums of Miyagi for 2 weeks until the final of 30 July.
The baseball has arrived from USA and loved very much in Japan.
I have enjoyed first round of match Kesennuma High School vs Kashimadai Business School at Ishinomaki Baseball Stadium.
It was very hot, but they were trying the best play.

This stadium was constructed by US supports after tsunami of 2011 with the name of "Tomodachi" which means friends.

Kesennuma has defeated Kashimadai at 8-1.

Shizugawa High School will play tomorrow on Wednesday 19 July at Kashimadai Stadium.

There was another tragedy in Tohoku, in a small village of Iwate Prefecture.

More than 300 catholic were martyred in Okago village in a deep mountain side during early Edo era around 400 years ago.

It was in 1549 the first arrival to Japan of the Society of Jesus at Kagoshima, south of Kyushu island.

Catholicism was accepted by Lord Oda Nobunaga and spread into Japan.
However the following Shogunate Tokugawa Ieyasu has prohibited in 1614.
That is the reason why created "Underground Christians".

In Okago, some people has returned to Shintoism or Buddhism by force, however somebody continued to be Catholics but in underground.
They were killed miserably.

Less than 1 hour drive from Hotel Kanyo to go to Okago Christian Martyrdom Memorial Park. The place to go for Catholics.

Onagawa Town is located in Sanriku Restoration National Park, north east of Miyagi prefecture, with its population of 6,000. Main industry is fishery such as salmon, saury, abalone, oyster, scallop etc. thanks to the good shaped bay which was used also for military purposes during the war.
Noted also by Onagawa nuclear power plant, but it is still stop due to the accident of Fukushima in 2011.

It was damaged by Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011, the town is still under construction.

However the rail road has been restored by JR, now you can travel directly from/to Sendai in 1h30min.

New railway station of Onagawa, equipped with Onsen hot spring.

It was on screen the documentary movie "Saury and Qatar", the story of Onagawa town restored by the survived fishermen and the aid from Qatar to construct new facilities.

This is newly invented Lamborghini made by carton boxes.

Cape Kamiwarizaki

Kamiwari Legend.

Long time ago, There was grounded a huge whale on the long beautiful sea shore named Nagashizuhama (means long quiet beach).

But, it was not clear the border between neighboring village.

It was started battle for the whale between two villages. 

In that night, the cape was split into two parts. The whale also was split into two portions.

People believes that it was the God who mediates between the villages separating the cape in order to make the border clear.

It is still border between Minami Sanriku and Ishinomaki from that time.

It is a view point of sunrise. We can observe sunrise between the split rocks twice a year.

Only 15 minutes from Hotel Kanyo.

相传古代开始被大家所信仰的一座灵山，当地称之为田束山。

町内屈指可数可眺望太平洋的高台，5月下旬开始到6月上旬，竞相开放的杜鹃染红了整座山，
（町内屈指の絶景スポットの1つとして太平洋を一望でき、５月下旬から６月上旬には、咲き誇る５万本のツツジは、山全体が燃えるような朱色に染まります。)

山顶有11尊経塚，相传奥州藤原氏家贵重藏经遗址。
(山頂にある11基の経塚は、かの有名な奥州藤原氏との深いゆかりを今日に伝える貴重な遺構です。)

开车可以到达山顶，并设有50台以上的停车位。

Rifu Town also was damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake in 2011.
However is will be a place to welcome Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020 even it is 350km far from Tokyo.

Stadium was completely repaired in order to guarantee the safety, Japan's national team has played against Uruguay with spectators of more than 45,000.

It is named "Hitomebore Stadium Miyagi", means "stadium of love at first sight", but it is connected to the Miyagi's local rice brand name.

Important match, Japan vs Turkey, 2002 World Cup played in Rifu.

In Rifu, there is another speciality of Miyagi, that is pears.

Hosokura Mine Park

It was found during the 9th century in a mountain of current Kurihara city, north of Miyagi. Started mining during 1500 by Takahashi family, Date clan then Takada family and ended by Mitsubishi Metals in 1987.

Main materials produced were iron, zinc, lead, but sometimes it was found gold also.

In 1990, it was open Hosokura Mine Park as a theme park of mining to show the history of traditional Japanese industries and technologies.

You can try to find gold.

It was connected by Kuriden rail from JR Ishikoshi station to Hosokura Mine Park, however it is now demolished rail road keeping only some monuments such as Wakayanagi station which has been renewed recently as Kuriden museum.

1.5h drive from Shizugawa to Hosokura Mine Park.
