He was born in 1571, 445 years ago, in Yamagata.
He was the right arm of the Lord Masamune Date of Sendai.
By the order of Masamune, he had departed to Nueva Espana (Mexico) with his delegation and missionary Luis Sotelo from Uraga Port (Kanagawa) in 1612, but failed due to storm.
As the second trial in 1613, with a Galleon "Sant Juan Bautista" made in Ishinomaki, he had cruised successfully to Acapulco, then crossed Mexico to Veracruz.
His travel continued to Madrid and to Civitavecchia, a port city of Rome.
This is the statue of Tsunenaga in Civitavecchia, baptized Samurai with katana on the waist.

Nikka Whiskey was started its production of whiskey in 1940 by Mr. Taketsuru Masataka using the Scottish technology and the nature of Hokkaido.
He has married a Scotswoman Rita, then he was involved completely in the production of Scottish Whiskey. They were featured in NHK morning drama series.
After the success of Yoichi distillery in Hokkaido, he has established Miyagikyo distillery in a mountain side of Sendai along the clean Nikkawa river.

We can see many birds around the coast and in the mountain of Minami Sanriku, but he is flying quietly dinamically without hesitation as he dominates Minami Sanriku Town.

Sempoku Railways were oparating as Toyoma Line between Semine Station in Kurihara and Toyoma Station in Tome 28km of distance, then Tsukidate Line between Semine Station and Tsukidate Station in Kurihara 12km long as light rails from 1921 until 1968 for 47 years.
It was running rhythmically in the rice field.
Semine Station, Sempoku railways start from here.
It was convenient to connect to Tokyo Ueno Station from here.
School girl just graduated, near Nishigo Station.
Sanuma Station in August 1964, 2 months before Tokyo Olympic Games.
They have tried to operate from Maiya to Shizugawa, but it was not authorized.
Switch Back system at Maiya Station, to go up the hill.

It was found by a professor of Tohoku University an ichthyosaur which named "Utatsusaurus" around the coast of Utatsu in Minami Sanriku.
It was found also in Ogatsu town of Miyagi prefecture and in British Columbia of Canada as fossils of Triassic period of 300 millions years ago.
It is long 1.4m to 4m.
Utatsu is a small town north of Shizugawa in Minami Sanriku.
Here also was disastered by tsunami of 5 years ago.
This is the rail station of Utatsu before tsunami.
Utatsusaurus is displayed in National Museum of Nature and Science in Tokyo also.
It is issued a friendly booklet of Utatsusaurus for kids.

Naganuma Lake is now getting more attention.
As one of the Olympic & Paralimpic candidate sites for boat races.
The governors of Tokyo and Miyagi both look very satisfied to go ahead.
This area is very calm and during the summer time the lake will be covered by many of lotus flowers.
Naganuma Lake is located in Tome City, next to Minami Sanriku Town.
It is convenient also by Shinkansen and Tohoku Motor Way.
But there is one problem, there is not very big accomodation around Naganuma Lake. So we Hotel Kanyo as a large hotel may be one of the accomodations to welcome athletes and visitors.
It takes 1 hour by car from Minami Sanriku to Naganuma, but I suggest to fly by Helicopter which could be a good experience for everybody.
This is the air base of Semine near Naganuma Lake.
We have tried to fly from Naganuma to Minami Sanriku Hotel Kanyo, it was taken only 10 minutes according to our pilots, I believe it could good mean for our VIP guests.
Autumn has come to Miyagi. This is the season of red, orange or yellow colors on the clear blue sky. Please do not miss the amazing autumnal tints of leaves in the mountains or in the gardens of Miyagi. I start from Minami Sanriku. Hikoro Village with beautiful garden of yellow and green in Iriya area.
