This time, I would like to introduce a historical park set up in a sandbar at the point where the Kitakami River and the former Kitakami River branch off.
Located on the border between Tome City and Ishinomaki City, this park is located in an artificial sandbar where the Kitakami River and the former Kitakami River branch off, and you can learn about the history of hydraulic control of the Kitakami River.
At the diversion point of the Kitakami River and the former Kitakami River, two sets of old and new wash dams and floodgates, which are separated by more than 70 years at the time of construction, coexist.
In August and September of 1897, a large flood occurred nationwide. The same applies to the Kitakami River basin. Government decided to drain most of the water from the Kitakami River to Oppa Bay via the widened Oppa River. This is the new Kitakami River.
As a result, the amount of water in the former Kitakami River can be adjusted at the former Kitakami River diversion facility. A 762m closing levee was built between the Tokinami-washing weir and the Wakiya-washing weir. This deadline is the current Kitakamigawa River Historical Park. The Tokinami closing levee and Wakiya lock were completed in 1945, the Tokinami and Wakiya locks were completed in 1945, and the Tokinami and Wakiya locks were built later.
The JR East / Kesen-Numa Line railroad tracks and railway bridges run on the north side, the Sanriku Expressway and its bridges on the west side, Prefectural Road 61 on the south side, and National Road 342 on the east side.
An observatory overlooking the entire park is set up, and on the north side you can see the state of the Tokinami wash weir, and on the south side you can see the historical buildings such as the Wakiya wash weir and lock gate.
Shiogama Jinja is a Shinto shrine in the city of Shiogama.
Enshrined kami .... Three kami are enshrined at Shiogama Jinja, in three separate buildings : Shiotsuchi-Oji-no-Kami in the betsugu(detached sanctuary), Takemikazuchi-no-Kami in the sagu(left sanctuary), and Futsunushi-no-Kami in the ugu(right sancturay). Shiwahiko Jinja is dedicated to another kami, Shiwahiko-no-kami.
Since there is no parking lot at the Omotesando exit, I walk up on the Higashisando exit.
After passing through the torii gate. .. ..
There is a museum.
And then, Shiwahiko Jinja
Within the precincts of Shiogama Jinja is the Shiwahiko Jinja, another shrine with a long history and important rank within Shinto shrine hierarchy.
Zuishinmon, Inportant Cultural Property
Both the Haiden and the Heiden are lacquered in vermilion and black and are designated as cultural assets of Shiogama city. The deity of this shrine is regarded as a guardian of agriculture.
↑ Looking down, you can see the torii gate at the Omotesando exit.
↓ You can see the city of Shiogama and Matsushima Bay.
As I wrote the blog on June 24 about Okaeri Mone which is a Japanese television drama series, this drama is set in Kesennuma City and Tome City next to Minamisanriku Town, where our hotel is located.
The JR Kesen-Numa Line will appear in the drama, and Yanaizu Station is a hot topic.
This station is the terminal station of the Kesen-Numa Line as a railway line, and is a connecting station with the BRT(Bus Rapid Transit System).
The station building has also a tourist product building "Yu Cabin".
Many people like the nostalgic appearance with the mountains in the background.
The timetable has a schedule of only 9 trains a day.
If you go after checking the time, you can see the train departing.
There is a BRT platform on the left side of the front of the station building.
Can you tell the difference between a black-tailed gull and a seagull?
Black-tailed gulls have black and vermilion beaks, yellow legs, and a dark gray line tail.
The seagull has a vermilion beak, pink legs, and a white tail. Seagulls are bigger than black-tailed gulls.
You can enjoy the sea of Minamisanriku by playing with black-tailed gulls while gazing at the scenery of the rough capes and islands [Areshima, Nojima, Tsubakijima (national natural monument)] peculiar to the ria coast.
