The other day I went to the Hiyoriyama Park in Ishinomaki city, one of the famous places in this area, to see the cherry blossoms.

Hiyoriyama Park

You can see the city of Ishinomaki and the former Kitakami River below, and Matsushima and Zao in the distance. 400 cherry blossoms in spring and 460 azaleas in early summer. Various stone monuments are also built in the park, including the statue of Magobei Kawamura and the statue of Basho and Sora, who made a great contribution to the establishment of the Kitakami River.

I’m glad I came on the day of full bloom !

It was a sunny, warm and beautiful day, isn’t it ?? It seems that flowering was about 10 days earlier than usual this year.

Taiheizakura

Taihei Hayashiya is one of the most famous rakugo storytellers in Japan. Standing in front of this young cherry tree before graduating from his University, he decided to become a rakugoka while staring at the city of Ishinomaki.

Our hotel also will welcome you at this time of year with the cherry blossoms in full bloom.
