Ishinomori Shotaro, one of the famous manga writer, was born in Tome City of Miyagi, and he has spent young age in Ishinomaki city.

He has written "Cyborg 009", "Masked Rider", "Robot Man Kikaidar", "Ninja Sabu and Ichi" and more, of course those were best sellers.

Manfa Island of Ishinomaki looks like Manhattan island of New York, therefore we say "Mangattan" in stead of "Manhattan".

Oya mine is located in Kesennuma city for the mining of gold, but abolished already.

The history of gold mining of this region can date back 1,000 years and supported the golden culture of Hiraizumi.

The peak period was in 1938 with 1,300 workers produced 1 tons of gold per year. It was mined 55 km in total length.

It was closed in 1976, because of depletion.

Unfortunately the mine is closed for the public because of the leakage of arsenicum caused by Grate East Japan Earthquake of 6 years ago.

We can go only to the museum beside the mine.

We remember Minami Sanriku was flooded by tsunami of 6 years ago.
Many parts of the town is still under construction, therefore the lights in the town are very limited.
This is the reason why we can observe beautiful stars in the night.

Michelin Guide Miyagi has been published last month as the first issue of Tohoku region.

This French "Le Guide Michelin" has started to issue Japan's version from "Tokyo 2008" followed by "Kyoto Osaka 2010".

Minami Sanriku Hotel Kanyo is listed as 3 stars hotel together with Kesennuma Plaza Hotel and Sun Marine Kesennuma Hotel Kanyo.

The origin of Michelin guide dates back to the Paris Expo in 1900 to promote travel by car indicating telephone stations and gas stations or other useful information of each cities on the map.

The hot summer season of high school baseball has come also to Miyagi.

This is elimination, only 1 school can go to national championship in Koshien stadium.
They have started to play on 14 July in 4 stadiums of Miyagi for 2 weeks until the final of 30 July.
The baseball has arrived from USA and loved very much in Japan.
I have enjoyed first round of match Kesennuma High School vs Kashimadai Business School at Ishinomaki Baseball Stadium.
It was very hot, but they were trying the best play.

This stadium was constructed by US supports after tsunami of 2011 with the name of "Tomodachi" which means friends.

Kesennuma has defeated Kashimadai at 8-1.

Shizugawa High School will play tomorrow on Wednesday 19 July at Kashimadai Stadium.

There was another tragedy in Tohoku, in a small village of Iwate Prefecture.

More than 300 catholic were martyred in Okago village in a deep mountain side during early Edo era around 400 years ago.

It was in 1549 the first arrival to Japan of the Society of Jesus at Kagoshima, south of Kyushu island.

Catholicism was accepted by Lord Oda Nobunaga and spread into Japan.
However the following Shogunate Tokugawa Ieyasu has prohibited in 1614.
That is the reason why created "Underground Christians".

In Okago, some people has returned to Shintoism or Buddhism by force, however somebody continued to be Catholics but in underground.
They were killed miserably.

Onagawa Town is located in Sanriku Restoration National Park, north east of Miyagi prefecture, with its population of 6,000. Main industry is fishery such as salmon, saury, abalone, oyster, scallop etc. thanks to the good shaped bay which was used also for military purposes during the war.
Noted also by Onagawa nuclear power plant, but it is still stop due to the accident of Fukushima in 2011.

It was damaged by Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011, the town is still under construction.

However the rail road has been restored by JR, now you can travel directly from/to Sendai in 1h30min.

It was on screen the documentary movie "Saury and Qatar", the story of Onagawa town restored by the survived fishermen and the aid from Qatar to construct new facilities.
