Tour de Tohoku

Tour de Tohoku will take place on 15 and 16 September this year.

This bicycle event is organized to help the recovery of area hit by tsunami and to remember the disaster for the future. They are trying to continue at least for 10 years.

Kahoku Shimpo news agency and Yahoo Japan have started such competition in 2013, but they say it is not a bicycle race but an fun ride event, because the riders can enjoy local foods and beautiful or recovering views of Tohoku during the course.

They are supporting the development also of cycle tourism in Miyagi and in Tohoku.

This is not the one time event for the year, but it is attracting many tourist to the area increasing number of exchanging population for the local communities.

In 2014 and 2015, Ms. Caroline Kennedy has also participated as US Ambassador.

It is now created newly “Minamisanriku oneway fond” from 2018. They will start from Hotel Kanyo to Ishinomaki.
