Rice Field, Time to Harvest

Rice is most important food for Japanese people for long time.
This is "Onigiri", handy rice ball, ready to eat.

In Japan we say "Kome", "Meshi" or "Gohan" not only "Rice" but in various way depending on the situation.
Japan produce 10mil. tons of rice in 1 year which is no.11 of the world.

Season of rice will start in spring time and harvest in autumn.

Miyagi is one of most important rice producer with its brand names "Sasanishiki" and "Hitomebore".
To find the rice field, you just go out from the city.

田園、収穫の時期
米という食べ物は日本人にとって長い間最も大切な食べ物で、
これは「おにぎり」と言って手のひらサイズの球状のご飯で、そのまま食べれます。
日本では「米」と言ったり、「飯」と言ったり、「ご飯」と言ったり、その時々の場面で言い方を変えます。
日本の米の年間生産量は約1000万トンで、世界で11番目に多いようです。
米の生産は春に始まり、秋に収穫するのが一般的で、そろそろ収穫の時期になります。
