Kitakamigawa River Cruise

Rhein River? Mekong Delta? Amazon?
No, no, this is Kitakamigawa River!

It is 249km long from north of Iwate to Ishinomaki in Miyagi, the 4th biggest river in Japan.

Now we can cruise on this beautiful Japanese river with us.

This area was damaged by Tsunami of 5 years ago even it is 33km far from the ocean.

It is like Mekong or Amazon, but please do not worry there is no crocodile nor alligator.

You can watch birds such as crane and eagle.

In this area Kitakamigawa River separate into New Kitagamigawa and Old Kitagamigawa, level of 2 waters are different.
We have to pass the navigation lock.

Old system of about 85 years ago.

It is not freely serviced, but we need permission in advance by authority to pass navigation lock. It is same system as Suez Canal or Panama Canal, but miniature

Now we are in New Kitakami River.

We can see another traditional "Yanaizu" bridge.

One more bridge. This is a rail bridge of JR Kesennuma line.

It is only 20 minutes from Minami Sanriku to cruise there.

いえいえ、北上川です。
岩手県北部から石巻まで長さ249km、日本で4番目の大河です。
実は日本のこのきれいな川をクルーズできるのです。
この地図のこの三角地帯を行きます。
この地域は太平洋から33キロも離れていますが、このあたりも5年前の津波の被害がありました。

このあたりで北上川は旧北上川と新北上川に分かれ、二つの川の水面の高さに違いがあります。

ここから新北上川です。
歴史のある橋、柳津大橋が見えます。
もうひとつ。今度はＪＲ気仙沼線の鉄橋です。
